Ich dachte schon der Wald hätte überhaupt kein Ende. Wir liefen schon fast die ganze Nacht durch den Wald. Eros schien genau zu wissen, wo er hin wollte, dabei sah man hier nichts als Bäume, Büsche und Blätter. Doch endlich kamen wir ans Ende des Waldes und standen vor einem kleinen Dorf. Da war ich doch sehr erleichtert. Noch einen Tag der Sonne ausgesetzt zu sein, war ein grausamer Gedanke. Eros ging durch die Straßen ohne ein mal halt zu machen. Ich folgte ihm. Schaute jedoch des Öfteren nach links und rechts. Es gab viele Obstläden, Bäcker und Fleischer. Niemals mehr würde ich den Geschmack dieser Dinge genießen können. Damit müsste ich mich nun abfinden. Ich hatte keine Wahl. Trotzdem hätte ich gerne noch mal ein knuspriges Brötchen gegessen. Ich schüttelte den Gedanken ab. Vor einem Gasthaus blieb Eros stehen. Hier werden wir eine Unterkunft finden. Er ging hinein und ich folgte ihm. Eros mietete ein Zimmer für Zwei mit Doppelbett. Genauso ein Zimmer hatten wir auch im letzten Gasthaus. Gerade als wir nach oben gehen wollten, kam ein Mann auf Eros zu. Er war etwas größer als er, sah aber um ein paar Jahre jünger aus. Eros sah wie ein ca. 30jähriger aus, während ich den Mann auf ca. 25 schätzte. Beide älter als ich. Erst jetzt wurde mir bewusst, dass ich mein ganzes Leben lang wie eine ca. 20jährige aussehen würde mit meinen 21 Jahren. Der Mann hatte hellbraune Haare und auch hellbraune Augen. Er war ganz in schwarz gekleidet. Eros und er schauten sich lange an und dann finden sie an zu lächeln. Der Mann nahm Eros in die Arme: „Mein alter Freund, was hat dich denn hier her verschlagen?“ Eros klopfte ihm auf die Schulter: „Komm mit nach oben auf unser Zimmer.“ Die Beiden gingen voraus. Ich folgte ihnen und fühlte mich gerade etwas überflüssig. Im Zimmer angekommen, verschloss Eros die Tür: „Richard, wenn ich dir meinen Frischling vorstellen dürfte!? Das hier ist Merrick.“ Richard kam auf mich zu und reichte mir die Hand: „Sehr erfreut Merrick.“ Ich nahm die Hand. Er hatten einen festen Händedruck. Dann setzten wir uns. Eros erzählte Richard von meinem Missgeschick und natürlich musste er darüber lachen. Mir war das unheimlich peinlich. Richard stand auf und zog die Vorhänge zu. Die Nacht war fast vorbei. Dann setzte er sich wieder auf den Sessel, indem er auch vorher saß: „Wie viele Jahre ist es nun her, dass wir uns gesehen haben?“ Eros überlegte: „Sind es wirklich schon über 100 Jahre.“ Richard lachte: „Unglaublich oder? Der Order ist auch um einiges wieder gewachsen. Viele neue Zöglinge. Ich war erst letztes Jahr dort.“ Eros machte ein ernstes Gesicht: „Wir werden uns auch dort hin aufmachen, sobald die kritische Zeit vorbei ist.“ Richard lächelte mich an. Ich schaute verlegen weg. Dann wand er sich wieder Eros zu: „Senad ist in den Schlaf gefallen, daher hat im Moment Tara das sagen. Sie ist ziemlich gestresst die Neuen alle einzugliedern.“ Eros machte eine abwertende Bewegung: „Was übergeben sie auch Tara den Orden. Markus wäre viel besser geeignet.“ Richard lachte: „Das haben wir nicht zu entscheiden.“ Ich war sehr müde und langsam ging die Sonne auf, also legte ich mich aufs Bett und schlief auch sofort ein.
